It’s rare to find a well-trained, beginner-safe horse in a rescue. That’s why our training program is such an important part of what we do—not only for our horses, but for the people who adopt them.
Adopting a horse is a big commitment, and our goal is to make sure you find the right match for your lifestyle and skill level. Every horse that comes to us is carefully evaluated and retrained. Many arrive with years of bad habits, but through our program, we’ve learned how to help them succeed.
If you’re not confident handling these challenges on your own, we’re here to support you. We offer as many lessons as you need before you take your horse home, and we also provide free access to Plan 4 Progress, an online video training program designed to help you communicate effectively with your new partner.
Our mission is simple: to help you find the right horse and give you the tools and support to make your dream a reality.
Finding your perfect horse may take some time. We recommend submitting an adoption application as soon as you begin thinking about adoption.
The approval process can take up to 10 business days, and once approved, you’ll be given priority consideration when a horse becomes available. By becoming pre-approved, you’ll be ready to act quickly when the right horse comes along.
Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help our horses. Every foster home opens space at the rescue, allowing us to save more lives than we could on our own.
Short-Term Fosters
Some horses only need a safe, temporary place to stay until they’re old enough—or until we have room in our training program. Short-term fosters also receive priority consideration when the horse they foster becomes available for adoption. (That’s why all fosters must complete the same online application as adopters.)
Long-Term Fosters
Healthy horses who are not adoptable due to advanced age or unsoundness still deserve love, comfort, and stability. A long-term foster home gives them the one-on-one attention they might not receive in the busy rescue environment—while also making room at the rescue for horses in training who are more likely to be adopted.
