How You Can Help

The greatest need for horse rescue organizations is public support. On the average, rescue organizations spend between $1,000 and $1,500 on every horse that enters their gates before it’s ready to adopt. The initial veterinary examination alone is over $100, special feed for the emaciated or sick horse averages $100 a month, farrier services $25 every 6 weeks, shavings $100 a month per horse. Annual vaccinations and coggins, an additional $100 per horse. Some horses may remain in a horse rescue for a year or two while going through physical and emotional rehabilitation. Your gift to a particular horse helps us prepare them for their final adoption.

Own Responsibly

The Unwanted Horse Coalition hopes teaching people to own responsibly will help lower the number of unwanted horses.

Mr. Gee and other horses will greatly appreciate your donation of hay this winter. There are several rescue groups across the state that need extra hay to feed abused and abandoned horses.
